Rangatahi technology wānanga

Practical learning with a cultural foundation

Te Rere Ao’s rangatahi technology kaupapa brings hands-on learning together with tikanga Māori, te reo Māori and whakapapa. The trust is based in Rotorua and works towards equitable access to the tools shaping the next generation.

The published wānanga areas span drones, coding, game design, digital media, AI tools, XR, robotics and creative technology. Programme conversations should begin with learners’ interests and the priorities of their whānau, kura or community.

Access, training, creation and leadership

The trust’s pathway model begins by removing barriers to equipment, tools, mentors and learning environments. Practical learning supports participants to create projects, tell stories and explore local challenges.

Longer-term ambitions include Māori leadership in technology, digital storytelling and emerging industries. These are pathways and strategic aims, rather than a guarantee of employment or a specific qualification.

Talk with the trust about a wānanga

If you are a parent, educator, kura, marae or community partner, share who you would like to involve, where you are based and the type of learning you want to explore. The team can discuss current opportunities and a suitable next step.

Donors and partners can also discuss equipment, scholarships, programme funding and other support. Visit the trust’s kaupapa and leadership information to learn more about its approach and accountability.
